Strategy Consultation

Freshman/Sophomore Strategy Package (9th or 10th grade)

If you are starting with me in 9th or 10th grade, we will concentrate our time on a strategy for your high school four-year plan, specifically focused on your extracurricular and summer activities.  We will meet through a series of 3 consulting sessions during the year:

• A summer planning session 

• An end-of-summer check-in and upcoming academic-year strategy session.

• A mid-year check-in and review.

Time: 4 hrs

Junior Year Strategy Package (11th grade)

Beginning the summer before junior year, we will conduct an in-depth interview that help me identify your strengths, interests and passions.  We'll examine where you can deepen your current interests and activities, whether its through expanding current activities or identifying new ones.  We'll look at the gaps and areas of weakness in your background and determine ways to strengthen them. Based on our session, we'll generate key ideas and a strategy for how you can best spend the next two summers and plan for your 11th grade school-year extra-curricular activities.  We will meet through a series of 3 consulting sessions during the year:

• A summer planning session 

• An end-of-summer check-in and 11th grade strategy session.

• A mid-year check-in

Senior Year UC & Common App Package

Senior Year UCs and Common App Package

Includes:

• Initial Consultation

The initial consultation includes a questionnaire that helps me identify your strengths, interests and passions.  As we go through the questionnaire, we will highlight what makes you stand out as a unique applicant and generate key ideas for how best to position yourself. 

• Essay Strategy Meeting (UCs and Common App)

During this meeting we will look at the UC and Common App questions and select the prompts that will best showcase your unique background and strengths.  One by one, we will work through each question and together determine the best strategy for answering each essay to provide a complete picture of who are you to the admissions committee.

• Strategy Report

Following our consultation, I'll provide a personalized strategy positioning report that clarifies our ideas and gives you a starting point for each essay. It will expand upon the key ideas we generated in our meeting, and include a tailored approach that is designed to highlight your stories in the best possible light.

Strategy Report

Following our consultation, I'll take the ideas and strategies we discussed and create a personalized strategy report for you.  This document will include my assessment of your current strengths and experience and specific ideas on how to deepen those areas.  It will expand upon the key ideas we generated in our meeting, and include a tailored approach that is designed to highlight your stories in the best possible light.

Essay Strategies and Editing

Essay Strategy Meeting

This is a one-on-one meeting where we will look at the specific schools and essays to which you are applying.  Together, we will identify the best way to highlight your background and what makes you stand out as a unique applicant.  After our meeting, I will provide a document that clarifies our ideas and gives you a starting point for each essay.

Additional Services

Resume Review

In a one-on-one meeting, we will walk through your current resume and assess its effectiveness for highlighting your skills and strengths.  I will provide recommendations and revisions on how to update your resume to reflect your background to best match your career or school goal.

Mock Interview

In a one-on-one meeting, we will simulate a professional interview (job or admissions) and practice best responses to typical interview questions.  I will provide advice on your responses and presentation.

Letters of Recommendations

I will provide a personalized document with tips on how to select the best recommender(s) for your application, based on your intended major, your background and experience.  I will also include specific ideas on how to approach your recommender, and what information to provide him/her so they can write the strongest letter for you.

Critique of Completed Application

Prior to your submission, I can review your entire completed application form, paying specific attention to how you answer your short answer text fields, such as activities, achievements, and other sections.  I will help you with phrasing your answers to best highlight your background.
